Leah Cameron is a Toronto-based director and writer with over 10 years of experience creating stories for digital, film and TV. Her digital comedy THE COMMUNIST’S DAUGHTER (CBC Gem) which she created, showran and directed won the Web Series World Cup in 2021 and was nominated for 6 CSAs, taking home one win for Best Supporting actor for George Stroumboulopoulos.

Leah is a firm believer that we all have compelling stories to tell if we look closely at our own lives. TCD is loosely based on the intense Marxist phase her father went through at the height of the Reagan 80s, his many election runs and how heart-warming and awkward it all was. The show earned top awards at 20+ festivals and praise from the Globe and Mail’s John Doyle who called it a “labour of love.”

Leah has served as a Story Editor and Writer on CORONER (CBC), AP, story editor and segment director on three seasons of WHERE COOL CAME FROM (Stornoway Productions), and is currently developing a slate of three half-hour TV projects with the support of the Bell Slate Fund. She is also writing her first feature comedy and in post on two shorts thanks to funding from The Canada Council for the Arts.

Leah is a graduate of the American Film Institute’s MFA Conservatory in Los Angeles, The Second City Hollywood, the WIDC’s Story and Leadership Program for Directors, is trained in Meisner and has taken master-level coursework on Directing from Rob Spera and Judith Westin.
